What’s the risk of encountering a bear?

There are Black and Grizzly bears in the Glacier National Park, however encounters are rare and attacks on humans are incredibly rare. We take all the necessary safety precautions, but you can help us further by:

– Ensuring that all food, including personal food, is not stored in your tent. There will be bear boxes available to put all your food in overnight and you can get this back before we depart each morning.
– Not leaving any litter, food scraps or wrapping anywhere except for the bin.
– Carrying bear spray with you when on course (we will show you where this can be purchased in Whitefish and how to use it). This is not a repellent but temporarily incapacitates bears.
